In this video you can get a general overview of filters in different sections of the platform. You'll also learn more about how the filters in the user.com actually work and why filters in the People section are exceptional.
Filters are an extremely powerful functionality that lets you filter out contacts meeting a given criterion or a set of criteria. Each Dataset in user.com (like Users, Companies, Deals or Products) can be filltered in very similar way. Also, basing on filters you can group your users into segments. The filters section is on the right-hand side and we can access it by clicking on the little filter icon and there are different modules available in it. The most powerful filters are related to the People section as users can be filtered not only by attributes describing them directly (like name, or email) but it’s also possible to filter users by attributes of Companies, Deals, Products or Events they are related to.... We can compare it to tables. Let’s say Users are in one table, Companies second table, Deals third table etc. They are all separate tables and all records included in a given table can by always filtered by different attributes. Users table is exceptional as it has all other tables nested inside and thus users can be filtered by attributes from other tables as well. Except for filtering by attributes, there are also a few other options like Filtering by FCM key that allows you sending notifications to your users across mobile devices, or Cached results, which is very useful when you have millions of users but need access to updated segments immediately. At the top of the section we see Logic attribute. Whenever you want to apply more than one filter, you will need to decide whether you want those conditions to be all met together or if it’s sufficient when any of the specified filtering conditions is met. At the very bottom of the filters module you will notice a few advanced options that give you a possibility to apply some nonstandard filtering. By default filters at user.com are set to REGULAR and return results matching filters specified above but, there is also an option of INVERTED filtering that filters out results NOT matching filters specified earlier. And that’s a quick overview of filtering section!
